Goals and mission:

The Department (Graduate Institute) of Information Management aims to develop outstanding, innovative, team-minded professional technical and managerial talent in information management who are capable of striking a balance between theory and practice. By engaging in the development and promotion of theoretical research and practical applications, the candidates can serve as the driving force behind the application of technological innovation in enterprises for nationwide establishments and regional developments.

Specifically, the department cultivates talent in information management to meet market demands. We have always been proactive in advocating e-services in industry and society; staying abreast of government developments in the fields of smart technology and e-commerce, as well as knowledge management and applications of technology; and keeping pace with the rapid industrial and commercial growth in the harbor industries of southern Taiwan. Our full-time instructors are highly experienced members in industry, government, and academia, with an average teaching experience of twenty years and five years of practical experience. In terms of academic development, our emphasis is on the fostering of theoretical and pragmatic learning capabilities, while stressing the upholding of professional ethics in a practical setting—achieving the theoretical and pragmatic learning capability of the student.

We provide the best facilities in the country, including an app design lab, a cloud and big data lab, and an IoT innovative applications lab. Our three major courses, Integrated Smart Technology, Big Data Analysis, and Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence, provide students with high-quality coursework and learning environments in-line with the industry’s latest trends.

The Department offers two master’s programs, one for information management and one for e-commerce. Our fields of research encompass four areas, namely artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT); FinTech and Blockchain technology; e-commerce and social commerce; and application of innovative services. Our instructional and research achievements have garnered wide spread praise, faculty and student dissertations have been highly lauded, while projects and programs for the Ministry of Science and Technology and industry-academic collaboration, respectively, have been representative of such high achievements.

Enabling students to familiarize themselves with enterprise process and business management models, in addition to acquiring professional competence in the analysis, design, operation, construction, and operation management of business information systems.

The Master’s Program in e-Commerce is dedicated toward:

Assisting enterprises to acquire and utilize IT resources as well as introducing e-Business models to enhance the enterprise performance and competitiveness.
The integration of two Master’s programs into a single department enables enterprises to achieve a “Click-and-Mortar” e-Business realization and mobilization.
